Your project is interesting, and really well documented. It shows what can be done for little money. Kudos. One suggestion that would improve the whole article: ditch the foul language. It detracts from your work.
OscarJr: I was thinking something around 5-6.5 inch. So far, in my very limited viewing, the Satoris look very nice, but are much less efficient than the woofer or tweeter. I'd prefer to run the JBL's at closer to 5500hz, or even higher.
I questi…
e6zion: took a look at the Magnum 12. That is a very good option, and Erich's suggestions for box size make it a perfect fit for this project. Now to find a nice mid to fit between that and the JBL at about 4500hz. Another option might be one of …
Archer 60x: wow, very nice. Look forward to seeing the results on those 7".
Gowa: Nope. not CIA. Last I knew they were too busy trying to figure out how to deal with post 911 problems, and might be too busy to worry about speaker compone…
e6zion: from what I've read, 2-4 cf sealed, well stuffed seems to be the recommendation. The enclosure I have is 3.14 cf not subtracting for woofer volume. I like AE woofers quite a bit, but saw a project where they used the Beyma to good effect,…
These look like very nice drivers. Would someone please explain for me the relationship between Gowa, RAD, Rival? The members here seem to be very positive about the Rival drivers, and Gowa seems to always have some sales, or specials. Many times…
Tom_S: The more I read up on this EV woofer, the less likely it seems as a candidate for what I want to achieve. I really like the new JBL 100 re-issue speaker. They sound very dynamic, and appealing. Very different from the types of speakers I'v…
How are these calculations or examples affected when a speaker has those old fashioned slot vents sometimes found on early speakers? I'm referencing my old EV speakers that have roughly (4) 1/4" wide by 10" vents, 3/4" deep on the ba…
Ron and Tom: thank you for the offer. I travel for a living, so getting anywhere within 800 miles is really easy. I will be in Ames in about 6 weeks to meet with Iowa State. For this little reworking project im trying to stay kind of old school…
