After hearing uglywoofers pair I’m sure I will be looking for another set soon. I’m gonna try some cheaper drivers for now and see if I even like the sound when I make 2.
My father even asked about me trying an omni build a couple times. The ohm style 2-way always came to mind. Definitely interested in what you come up with!
Hmm I do have a couple pair of SDS-160F25PR1s and a pair o spare beastmodes. Clamshell iso could work for bookshelf size.

Hmmm? This thread has piqued my interest! Looking at all the drivers I have just sitting on my shelves collecting dust, and how cheap those Menards shelf boards are.... I might do some similar experimenting. I'll try it with way cheap drivers and go three way. Up firing Omni woofer, OB mid, and soft dome tweeter. Worse case I will waste < $15 worth of shelf board.
Made a 1.0cu.ft double walled 3/4” cabinet (40lbs.) for my rabbit hole adventure. Crazy how much the cabinet rings when the driver is turned around. This should cut back on that .
Lots of ideas investigate - maybe too many if you Google omni speakers. I think Bill is already half way there if he tips his side towers up on end and does something like this.
Well, there’s a reason why Walsh lined their cabinets with lead. I will post more of my findings that I found this morning on some experimental measurements I’ve done after I done going under the knife today.
I changed to simpler and cheaper design for measuring. Mac05 & Dayton ND28. The crossover was done on the fly which only took me about 20 minutes to get it to this point.

I use to have a pair but sold them in Iowa a few years ago. I believe I had the mid sized ones.

These are the large format if interested

Looks like some of Eric's work . . .

Coincidentally I was contemplating something like this using an 8" poly GRS. Not sure what tweeter I would use, however.
I'm buying some shelf boards on the way home tonight
If the cabinet rings when the driver is firing into it, shouldn't that be the exact same force as when the driver is firing outward?

The motor structure might mitigate that to an extent. Should be more turbulent.

Graph looks amazingly good considering the setup looks like a diffraction nightmare.
Probably no worries about baffle step with this sort of thing?
There isn’t much baffle step in it. Low end bloat I think will be a problem and good clean midrange.

That dip at 1k is the baffle edge. When I turn the cabinet 90 degs that smooths out into 2 smaller dips.

Wait - under the knife?
Yep. Manhood gone. Lol

Ahhh the old snip snip. Good luck!
All done. Took about 20 mins

That's not too bad, have a few uncomfortable days and good to go.
I hear a bag of frozen peas helps
Just don't go golf 18 holes tomorrow. A guy I worked with did that. Big Mistake! Couldn't walk for a week.
Yes frozen peas. Probably don’t open the bag tho.
All good. IBUPROFEN works great.

Have fun with it , open the bag
From the sounds of it the bag has already been opened. Oh you meant the bag of pees.
ooh good lord , lol
This makes me think of:
When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars
