Somewhere in my parts collection I have a bunch of Panasonic ribbon tweeters IIRC. However I moved and all of that remains in storage probably until the spring. If you're still interested then, you could have them jr. I suspect they may be the sourc…
Johnny, I haven't been on the boards lately and just saw this today. Terrible event. You are a sitting duck for PTSD with this, the whole remaining family as well. There is help for that, avail yourself.
I believe that Makita you linked is the same one I bought, but I only paid about $330 IIRC from CPO a number of years ago. It has been faultless. Mine doesn't have a laser, don't know if the newer model does.
Wow the storm damage is impressive, very much like what you get from a tornado, but on a more massive scale. I was in a similar storm in Illinois, wide spread tree and power line damage, but not much else. We lost power for about 10 days. We had to …
Another thought. Last time I was in a pawn shop, I was impressed by the number of contractor power tools they had available. Might be worth checking.
I think I bought my Makita from CPO outlet. I just ran a scan for refurb tools, and a lot of sourc…
I have a Makita compound sliding saw which I have always liked. I got it from one of the refurbished tool places at a very good price and it was in brand new condition. I have not had problems with accuracy with this one. On the other hand, I once h…
I'm no veneer expert but I can share some experiences with you. I've had failures of veneer of most every method. I don't have a vacuum press so never tried that. The iron on didn't work for me at all, but I suspect that I never got the veneer hot …
Here' a link to a virtual orchestra/choir from Berklee school of music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QagzdvzzHBQ
Once you've listened to that still on YouTube, look up blues/folk guitarist John Fahey
That looks like a real labor of love, with emphasis on the labor.
I wonder if you could mount the whole block on a turntable so you could rotate it, and use a band saw with a big enough throat to rough out the cuts and reduce the amount of sanding…
Once upon a time I built a 3 way horn system. It consisted of a folded bass horn that was published in Speaker Builder, a tractrix horn mid with a 5" JBL driver IIRC, both of those designed by Bruce Edgar, and I don't really recall what the twe…
Johnny, educate me. In referring to the free air measurement, you comment about the "big ugly" impedance bump at 700, but I only see a minor wobble. What's so bad there, or have I missed something?
From what I gather, the parameters do change, but don't seem to make much if any difference in terms of designing for the particular drivers being used. The parameters seem to compensate for one another in a way that keeps the design constant.
I am not shopping for anything at the moment. I do see some brand name drivers on their site, for instance HiVi drivers, and some AMT's sold under different names but sourced from China with known manufacturers.
I have bought things like flashligh…
Just thinking out loud, depending on the size of the drivers, you might be able to use a wine case with the subdividers meant for bottles to house the drivers on edge, by removing appropriate pieces of the cardboard.
I often use hot melt glue from a gun into the seams. Dries in moments, no outgassing, no smell. Worst problem has been that you get fine spider webs of glue, but its easily removed. Reach can be a problem, but there are some very small glue guns ava…

That's a shame. He was a very good guy. I don't recall which forum he posted on, maybe the basslist, but he was one of the gurus along with Tom Danley. Both of them dropped out, much as Jeff has on TT.

Can you insert a needle in the first pictured crack? They sell glue injectors for furniture repair at the woodwoking stores, probably also on Amazon. They have a bottle for the glue and a needle thats big enough to let the glue flow through it,…
