  • Hey guys, in celebration of this weekend's event, we're having a 10% off sale site-wide at CSS (use code 10DIY2019).  We won't be advertising this until Friday, but we wanted to offer this to the MAC/DIY gang early so we can bring the orders for any…

Send us a message with what you are wanting to use for the woofer and we can cut you a discount on the pair.

That's just good sense JR.  What are you supposed to do - order and wait a day to get the right value coil to try out?  How could anyone get anything done like that?? Dan

Try it now.  We had some technical difficulties for a moment.  Dan

No problem.  Glad to see them go to a good home!  Round 2 is active on the website now.  A little more hodge podge than the last round, but even more parts for the money.  We only have a handful of these, so they'll go fast.  Check …
  • Quick update - we sold out of those packs WAY faster than we thought we would.  We'll get everything boxed up and shipped out this weekend, then regroup what's left and post another set of parts early next week if anyone missed out on the first roun…
  • No, the free shipping is for US only.  We can ship to Canada for an additional $15 for the small pack and $25 for the large pack though.  Email us if interested and we'll get you taken care of. Dan
  • I'll be there Saturday Bill and will give you the doorprize from CSS.  I'm guessing Meniscus is the other sponsor.  Thanks for taking them - saves us a couple bucks in shipping. Dan
  • Ah, I didn't realize the SW series came later and your assumption about the amp capabilities of potential LSS builders is probably spot on.  The only Dayton Designer driver I've used was the 7" driver and I actually kind of liked it.  It had …
  • The GRS line is really not bad.  They are probably the least expensive woofers available, but certainly not the worst.  I really like the subwoofer series too.  Any reason you didn't go with the 12SW as opposed to the woofer version?  They've got si…
  • Glad to see you're keeping it going!   Dan

Slow down...
  • We assemble these in-house, so we could ship them out unglued for those that want to use them with a waveguide or other alternate mounting methods.  This option is not available on the website, but we can be reached at [email protected] if interest…

The Criton 1TD uses the LD22 crossed at 1.6kHz and system distortion remains extremely low in this configuration, even at high output levels.  In the P215, the LD22 is crossed at 2.1kHz.  In this application, it's not even breaking …

... two bits.  Thanks guys!  Glad to get a little recognition there.  Honestly the DIY roots brands that I knew of there were among the best values and had the best sound for their size of anything I heard.  Some of the giant speake…

Canadian distributorship is our next step.  Just haven't found the right partner yet. Dan

Yes, we'll be displaying our P215, Criton 1TD, Criton 2TD, and sealed cabinet SDX12.  We'll also have some raw drivers, flat packs, and crossover boards available for inspection.  Hope to see you there! Dan

I totally get where you're coming from and Kerry and I have been banging our head against the wall trying to figure this out, but USPS now bakes the same brokerage fees that UPS is charging right into their shipping cost, making it…
  • Any of our MAC buddies are welcome to hang with me and Kerry in room 578 too!  Come give us the show highlights so we can hit the best rooms when we sneak out here and there. Dan

Lol, sorry dcibel, that message is a little harsh!  Didn't realize it said that and we will change it.  Short story long, we had settled on using USPS for Canadian shipments because brokerage fees are included in their rates.  Thi…
  • Blank flat packs are now available - https://www.css-audio.com/product-page/blank-flat-pack-cabinets Pics to come on the website, but all have the same rabbeted edges that you can see in the P215 or Criton kit photos.  Dimensions of the various vol…
  • Another decent option is the 4" Tymphany TC10FG00-04.  It is a 4 ohm driver with a legit 92dB sensitivity @ 2.83V.  4 of them in series/parallel get you up to 98dB and they are only $15/ea.  Been wanting to try something like this myself. Dan
  • If you go by the published SPL specs, your numbers look right, but those are rarely accurate.  The T/S parms show sensitivity of about 95dB for the PRV and 92-93dB for the parallel triplet of 3fe22.  These numbers at 2.83V input.   Dan

This is where I land as well.  Take a driver with razor flat FR on an infinte baffle, then put it in an enclosure.  I'm going to EQ the hell out of it anyway to compensate for baffle step and try to minimize some diffraction effects…

P215 flat packs are available now, but they're only listed as an add-on to the kit.  Email us if you can't wait for this one, but everything should be up on the website in February.  We can bring stuff to InDIYana in April to save o…
  • Yeah, sorry dcibel, Wolf is correct.  We moved the operation to southeast Michigan last summer.  We're working on getting approved to accept GST/HST over our website so our Canadian customers won't have to deal with it on their end.  This will make …
  • Ok, so here's what made sense and what should all be available in February.  The Criton 1TD and P215 flat packs come standard with front and rear baffles cut for their drivers, PE 2" adjustable port and PE 1/4" binding posts.  They will av…

Gotcha.  I like that idea.  Golden ratio on the baffle works well for speakers less than 15" tall, but they start to get really wide after that.  I'll see if I can make JR's suggestion of the PE finished cab sizes work. Any …

45s are costly to produce and ship without damage, so for the P215 we went with the 3/8" rabbets with cut ends on the sides and top/bottom, very much like you described.  Pricing will likely be a little higher than PE as the ra…
