Early CTA, and Chicago with Terry Kath, and Danny Seraphine, put out some of my favorite music ever, but I think that Leonid and Friends are better at playing the catalog, than the Chicago of the last few decades. They are all just badass on a technical level, and they have incredible feel too. I really hope that they write, record, and release more of their own music. They've killed on Tower Of Power, and Deep Purple covers too! Glenn
I just got back from Phoenix...we were out in a solar power plant... we kept the vehicles running...drinking water we were able to stand about 30 minutes at 120 degrees between the panels.
Not for me, I can slow down if it's hot, but when it's cold there's no way to keep my hands warm. When it's single digits or lower, I no longer work outside, I stay home, I've gotten too old for that shit.
I’m a desk jockey and finally upgraded my work at home computer to my own build for the first time. Nice to not have the ridiculous anti-virus bloatware that home PCs are plagued with and more than enough speed and memory, which was always the trade off with the govt issue I was used to in the past.
ÅMD Ryzen 5 5600G with integrated graphics and cooling - 32GB 3200 GSkill RAM - 1TB Samsung 970 Evo plus M2 - Windows 11 - ASUS MoBO Wi-Fi II - and a GSkill 650w 80+ power supply - and a Corsair 4000D case for less than $700 including tax. Hoping it lasts a long time. It’s really just connecting parts these days.
Similar to my recent build. I'm fortunate to live near a MicroCenter so I took advantage of the after Christmas return rush to nab a bunch of open box stuff.
Got a 5700G so I'd have onboard graphics as a backup; since I tried one of the Intel ARC cards that had only been out a few months by that point. Scored the A770 Limited Edition for $244. They had 3 open box that day. Probably folks getting cold feet due to the rather unpolished drivers at the time. That or realizing their board doesn't support SAM/ReBAR which would impose a significant performance hit for the ARC.
Yep, I got mine from a Microcenter too. Wasn’t really necessary but I wanted everything from an authorized dealer. I don’t PC game and probably could have gone a$100 less by using Crucial RAM and an older generation SSD without noticing a difference, but for once I let it ride.

Im guessing youre not with the gubment anymore? I know working with a dept of the gov hardware was all issued and a no no to not use any hardware that wasnt provided by them.
Late last fall my daughter mentioned her gaming laptop no longer performed, so I suggested we build a gaming machine for her. It was the most fun daddy/daughter project we've ever done.

Taking my son to his very first NASCAR race tomorrow. Not the Cup series but the XFinity series is racing at Road America in Elkart WI. Weather looks like it will be perfect!
Going to a party tomorrow and there is going to be a band. But probably going to be some rain. So Im building some simple platforms to keep the drums and gear up out of the water. Basically just doing 2x4s on edge, 16" centers. I screwed up and bought 7/16" OSB thinking it was 9/16". I'm worried that will be too bouncy for the drums. I could return the stuff and get thicker but I don't want these things to be too heavy to move around. Anyone have experience with this type stuff?

What a great venue - I so much enjoyed going to watch the races with my son as well- we found a great spot under the trees to set up a couple of chairs - just before / at turn 6 - not to far from the hotdog / beer stand and the boyz room… ha
I play fairly hard, and can really get a drum riser flexing. I would want, at minimum, 3/4 with the slat bracing. If it's a mellow drummer that doesn't play with a lot of force, and it's a one time usage case, then you may be ok with the thinner material. No solid drum platform is going to be very lightweight, unfortunately, but you could make it in two sections and use a connection/ latching setup. Glenn.
Cool. 3/4" it is then. And might sneak an extra 2x4 in for 12" centers. Yeah, by that point definitely need to split em into 4'x4' sections or it would end up over 100lbs. Probably just shoot a few screws to lock em together onsite.

Their cover work on Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire are phenomenal.
This is their first original and I think it is awesome - so much going-on and so well done in every respect.

94 with a heat index of 109 here, but it still beats freezing my ass off in the winter.
We get the same summers as most of the South, but you guys don't have to make the adjustment from negative double digits we do.
