My use would be for listening and not PA application - I have still 2 pair of 12" sub/woofers yet and 3 pair of 8" sub/woofers yet to be put into service but I can't seem to pass-up a good deal on stuff I may never use . . . What a disease this hobby can be, Ken!
Just be careful attaching them. The motor is robust but the frame not so much. Very happy with the 12”. Edit: Sorry was thinking of the high excursion version. Didn’t look closely enough at the link
@Steve_Lee not sure if you saw, but the GRS 10SW-4HE 10" High Excursion Subwoofer 4 Ohm is on sale for $40. More than twice as much, but still probably a better deal.
Thanks A4e.
After modeling those, they look best in a sealed cab as the ports are unruly for ported IMO but they do look good sealed in a 0.7 ~ 0.9 cu ft box. I've put them in my wish list for now.
I'm looking for a sub/woofer for a mid sized 3-way using a coaxial speaker - specifically the SB12PFC25-4.
An 8" would probably do it just fine but the price of the 10" has me looking . . .
No hate here, but there are better looking drivers out there as these [GRS] need to be double bagged and mounted from the rear.
Depending on what you intend to do with a 10" driver, the inexpensive one is probably the better bet. The 12" HE GRS is pretty bad above 150Hz - I imagine the 10" fares little better as a woofer. The poly cone series are not really subwoofers - I used the 8" model to 1K and it is capable of playing higher than that. JP used the 10" in a rear-firing config one year, forget where he crossed it. Granted the 8" uses a different motor assembly so it is purely speculative.
Ultimately, buy 20 of the inexpensive 10" drivers and smoke any single driver around.

Good stuff! I really like Carol wire for SpeakOns.
InDIYana Event Website
This stuff is OFC/Tinned and very flexible/well behaved cable/jacket --> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BVLLXK37?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
Look at the prices in the dropdowns for 16AWG as well and different lengths.
+1
I use Carol 14/4 SJO and 4 pole SpeakOns
Carol is industry standard for SOW and similar.

So tempting!! https://www.parts-express.com/GRS-10SW-4-10-Poly-Cone-Subwoofer-4-Ohm-292-482?quantity=1
I modeled it sealed and ported and it has some serious potential in 1 cube or less for that little coin.
Any distortion measurements available for this driver??
Sealed 0.7 cu ft and 1.0 cu ft ported tuned to 38 Hz w/ 3" port @ 11" compared to the Peerless SLS 10" 830668 . . .
The GRS has much higher GD than the SLS ported at low frequencies but the SPL is rolled-off and I wonder how noticeable they would be . . .
That GRS is a good value. Be warned, it is not beast. You push it too far and you'll pay the price.

I don't know how high it will reach. If it can do half what the 8 does it could be a bigger cheap bottom of a 3-way.
A sealed 2cube tower like I did with JR's LPS will have an f3 of 40hz and a 2.8db hump centered ~67hz when .5ohm is added on for inductor dcr.
I used them in OB before and they did great. Great budget subwoofer

I'd save my pennies for something nicer.

I'd agree they seem average at best for dedicated sub use, but is there much to back the hate for use as a $20 woofer?

Grills solve the problem.
You would know

Well after more modeling it looks like the 8" MCM-5670 beats both of the 10" GRS in SPL with equal power applied:
I have 4 MCM's so I'll just use them and save some money . . .
Anyone order the ratcheting tool set monster deal? Lol Stahl.
Looks to be about as useful for speaker building as a toothless comb is to a bald person . . .
Hey! Stop making fun of me!
Does the comb fit?
InDIYana Event Website
Actually it does!
The mind reels at the implications of the contradictions . . .
Every time I get a haircut, the wife asks if I paid less than last time.
In case you guys missed it . . .
Who needs a toothless comb?
Apparently, Nick.
....or me😛
