New (to me) book

I recently was given a copy by my dad, and while it deals primarily with sound reproduction from musical instruments it is still conceptually relevant to what we do. For example here are some points I took from it my first time through.

1) A piano is as much of a collection of compromises as the loudspeaker reproducing it (this helped put a lot of things into perspective for me).
2) Differing construction techniques for the violin are indistinguishable in blind listening tests when played by a skilled musician.

This is great, and a little understood part of a subject that I feel can be a huge value for us to understand. I have not read, or have found enough about it, but It is touched upon in Sound Reprduction and Loudspeakers for music and Recording. 

Please keep us posted. I am VERY interested if you think its another great tool in the kit.

I'm partway through and would recommend the book. It is written to be accessible, entertaining, and informative, with plenty of diagrams and explanations of how the physics works and why the precise mathematical model isn't always followed to the letter in order to construct a musical instrument that is pleasant to listen to.

When I get a chance, I'll put up a small excerpt.

There are also several reproducible experiments scattered throughout to demonstrate the concepts he discusses.

I also discovered  http://acousticalsociety.org/about/awards/gold/12_10_10_benade and https://ccrma.stanford.edu/marl/Benade/ recently, where the Arthur H Benade (the author) was at the forefront of acoustical research as it relates to musical instruments.

I knew I had a copy of this book somewhere, so I dug through several boxes of old books in one storage closet.  They I dug through another stack in another storage area.  After searching for several hours, I finally found it.   Mine is the 3rd edition from 1985.  Boy am I out of date!  The section on transmission line loudspeakers is only 1.5 pages long.  Does the latest edition have a section on TL's and, if so, how many pages is it?   Thanks.
