A friend of mine was teaching some kids how to etch circuit boards, solder and ultimately build a little solid state amp.
I suggested that a cheap speaker would be a cool addition, and he readily agreed.
Found this buyout woofer at PE, and it modeled pretty good in 1 ft^3
Fixed up a minimal crossover with a $.99 buyout tweeter, and ordered 5 more pairs of parts.

I wish there was something like this local to me - I would volunteer for the same kind of thing.
It was inspiring and humbling to tutor these young kids. I was met with a lot of blank stares, but later the kids expressed great appreciation
