Hey I just noticed... Scott Sehlin is not on the registration list. You coming Dr. Scott?
Unfortunately, DIY Iowa is not going to be in the cards for me this year (the second one I will have missed since 2004 if I recall correctly). My wife and I are hosting out of town guests tomorrow evening through midday Sunday.
Keep an open mind, but don't let your brain fall out.
I woke up early and realized since Scott won’t be able to join us, we’ll need the backup amp - my old QSC. Hope it still works - and the fan isn't too noisy. Once it's light outside I'll dig it out of the garage and test it.
It only has Speakon connectors, so I just made up a pair of adapters. Not Audiophile Approved, but they should get the job done.

Made it, will be at Outback for lunch.
Hi JR,
If you are interested in really good mexican food, I'd suggest Hernandez bar and grill right on the other side of the interstate. It's owned by friends of mine. If you go, tell them Jim and Louvina sent you.
I had a great time reconnecting with everyone after a 2-3 year absence. Congrat's to Bryan, Jason & JR for receiving their DIY awards. Much deserved guys!
I just got home but haven't unloaded anything yet. Another great event JR, BK, and JP! Congrats on the award, totally deserved! Wish I was feeling better and could have been there more on Saturday and for the preamp A/B listening. There were some really standout projects that have re-energized me to build my next (hopefully) personal best project. Like a broken record I will say again that nothing there sounded bad. The bar remains high yet again. Great seeing all my speaker family. I hope everyone has/had safe travels home.
I agree with the above comments, 100%! Bryan, Jason, & JR do an amazing job handling everything and making sure the i's are dotted & t's are crossed every year. We cycled through a lot of amazing speakers on Saturday and it didn't seem to feel rushed at all. All of the MAC driver projects sounded great. We saw first-hand how durable those 4" woofers are. And where else could you push an amp to the point of frying an egg on the top just for fun?
Just got home. Will post a few more pics in a few minutes. Had a great time. Congrats to JR, BK, and JP on the award. Also thanks to JR, BK and JP for all the time and effort that goes into preparing and planning these events. It is much appreciated. Picked up a couple of heavy items for future projects. A pair of original AMT tweeters from @LifeOfBrian that I will be measuring and using in a future Omni build. And a heavy HP distortion analyzer from @Ron_E for a future rebuild project. Ron swapped me this old HP unit for repair work on a Heathkit AC voltmeter. The bargain was simply too good to pass up, so now I have lots of new projects to keep myself busy and out of trouble this winter.

Do you want me to bring those AMT tweeters to Iowa?

We will have a couple amps to choose from. Thanks @Tom_S
Cool! I just tested it and the fan isn't as loud as I remember. It's light, so I'll throw it in the car just in case.
I’m loaded. No room for hitchhiker’s this year.

What is the difference between a shooting star and a shiny riser?

From the pictures, another successful weekend- I’ll plan on catching up with you all next year.
Bryan, from the pics it looks like you were handling the mic / levels. I’m curious at what dB listening level to you set for playback?
And thx for all the posted pictures !
